Auslan Language Documentation

Here at Euka, we are committed to providing quality educational resources for English language learners — but did you know that we also support study in additional languages as well? That's right — we offer support for those who want to learn Auslan, the Australian sign language! Our aim is to help students from Foundation to Grade 10 develop proficiency in this unique and important language. Before you begin, it's important to know which material the Euka Auslan Language curriculum covers. These documents provide an overview of the topics and skills that are covered in our Auslan courses.

The Learn Australian Auslan Level 1 course is the perfect way to get started with your Auslan studies. With 40 videos, this course provides a full year of weekly lessons for students of all ages. For high school students, one lesson a week may be more suitable — in which case, feel free to adjust the pace to fit your learning style. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and all videos are subtitled to make learning Auslan accessible and enjoyable.

If you've already completed the Level 1 course or you're looking for a more advanced option, then the Learn Australian Auslan Level 2 course is for you. With 23 videos, this 6-month course covers frequently used phrases and words that are essential for becoming fluent in Auslan.

Finally, the Learn Australian Auslan Level 3 course completes the series by building on what you learned in Levels 1 and 2 and focusing on health-related topics. This 4-week course is great for students who want to cover specific areas of Auslan in-depth.

If you're looking for resources for younger grades, we recommend checking out Sally and Possum. This ABC TV program uses Auslan with English voiceovers, making it engaging and easy to follow. You can even download free apps to practice the signs you learn from the videos. With a variety of videos available, you can easily adjust the pace to fit your learning style.
