Can I Homeschool While on a Visa?

Can students on a visa enrol with Euka? Do I need to be an Australian Citizen?

Updated today

We often hear from families who are on a visa in Australia and are considering homeschooling with Euka. Below you’ll find the key information you need to know.

You Don’t Need to Be an Australian Citizen to Enrol with Euka

Euka is a curriculum provider, not a school. This means:

  • Anyone can enrol with Euka regardless of residency or visa status.

  • You are not required to be an Australian citizen to use our program.

  • Families from all over the world successfully use Euka’s curriculum to guide their child’s learning.

    Visa Conditions and Homeschooling

While many visa types exist, not all visas permit homeschooling in Australia.

  • It is essential to check with the Department of Home Affairs or your international student visa advisor to confirm your specific visa conditions and whether homeschooling is allowed.

  • If homeschooling is permitted under your visa, the registration process with your state’s homeschooling authority is essentially the same as for Australian citizens.

  • You may be asked to provide a copy of your visa as part of the registration process with your state education department.

What If My Visa Status Is Uncertain?

If your family is currently in visa limbo or unsure about your visa status:

  • You can still use Euka’s program as a learning resource while you work through your visa or schooling arrangements.

  • Many families choose to begin learning with Euka even before formal registration is approved, helping their child maintain educational progress. It may also be helpful to know that we offer single‑term enrolment options, giving you access to a full term’s worth of learning for 90 days.

Important to Note: Using Euka Does Not Equal Registration

Enrolling with Euka does not automatically register you as a homeschooler in your state or territory.

  • Each state and territory in Australia requires families to lodge a homeschooling application and be approved by their local education authority before homeschooling is officially recognised.

  • For example, in Victoria, this is managed by the VRQA (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority).

    In Summary

  • Anyone can use Euka’s program regardless of visa status

  • Check your visa conditions first to ensure homeschooling is permitted.

  • If permitted, follow your state’s registration process and provide your visa details as required.

  • Using Euka alone does not mean you are officially registered to homeschool.
