Choosing the Right Novel!
Can I Change or Swap Novels?
If the assigned novel is not a good fit for your child, it is absolutely alright to swap it with another series or book that they enjoy. We can provide a “Choose your own Novel study” so the book you choose covers and fulfills the necessary curriculum objectives for Literacy. This will ensure that you do not miss out on any crucial learning components while reporting on your child's progress. If in Grades 2 – 12, we will go ahead and add this unit to your child’s portal for you upon request.
Unsure of which other Novel to choose instead?
The below websites contain many reviews on an array of different books and also provide you with suggestions on books that may be suitable and/or enjoyable for certain age groups. We encourage families to choose a novel that is at the right reading age for their child.

Locating the Parent Planner/Handbook
It is easy to locate your child's Parent Planner within the Getting Started Resources on their Student Portal. The Parent Planner, along with the Scope & Sequence, Activity Sheets, and Answer Pages, you will also be able to access the relevant Parent Handbook for your student via their profile within your Parent Portal, under the Student Programs section.
In Foundation/Grade 1, you are at liberty to switch any assigned books in the Euka program with ones of your preference. Just have a look at the Literacy Activities and understand what is expected. You can then have your child answer the activity questions on a separate sheet of paper for the book that you have chosen.
This will ensure that your child is gaining the same learning experiences as they would from the assigned book.
Please Note: The Choose Your Own Novel option outlined in this article is available for families using our previous learning experience. Families using our new learning experience will instead complete our Bring Your Own Novel (BYON) studies.
Please see our Bring Your Own Novel (BYON) article for more information.
