Work Samples: A Comprehensive Guide to Euka Work Samples for Your Child's Assessment Success!

Updated over a week ago

Understanding Euka Work Samples

At Euka, we believe in assessing your child's progress through hands-on learning experiences. That's why we use work samples as a part of our assessment process. This allows your child to fully understand and apply new concepts, rather than just memorising them for a test.

Placement of Work Samples

The work samples are placed throughout the term and are incorporated into the weekly activities. This means that your child will complete work sample lessons alongside their other coursework. Each work sample comes with a Parent Assessment Checklist, which enables you to mark off the curriculum objectives that your child has covered. PLEASE NOTE: If you have added the Premium Euka Reporting Service to your program, you will not need to complete the parent assessment checklists as these are obsolete when you have this service.

The matching Parent Assessment Checklist to each Work Sample can be found in your Parent Planner; in regards to locating the Parent Planner, please refer to your child's Student Portal for this information. Just navigate to the “Getting Started Resources” section of their course content. You’ll also be able to find it under the “Student Documents” tab in your Parent Portal.

Addressing Concepts Your Child Struggles With

If you are working through a work sample and find that your child is struggling to grasp a concept, don't worry! Simply stop and go back over the concept again. The whole point of using work samples is to allow your child to understand all new concepts, and to slow down when necessary to ensure each concept is fully grasped. In this case, a test is not needed as you already know that they understand the concept.

In a traditional school setting, teachers are often limited in the amount of one-on-one time they can spend with each student. This makes it difficult to address individual struggles in a timely manner. However, with Euka's work samples, you have the flexibility to slow down and ensure your child fully understands each concept.

The Value of Work Sample Folders

If you have the premium Euka reporting service added to your Euka program, your work samples will be uploaded to the portal itself, including any activity sheets and photographs of practical work. In this case, there is no need for a work sample folder. Without the Euka reporting service, the work samples are collected in a separate folder, along with the Parent Assessment Checklist forms. Together, they form a portfolio of your child's work throughout the year. Not only are these folders useful for reporting purposes, but they also serve as a keepsake for all of your child's accomplishments and enjoyable activities throughout the year.

We hope this article has helped you better understand how Euka uses work samples for your child's assessment. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team via LiveChat.
