Queensland - Reporting Process (HEU - Home Education Unit)

This article discusses a general reporting guide for Homeschool reporting to the HEU (Home Education Unit) in Queensland.

Updated this week

When do I Report?

On the 9th month, following your initial registration approval, the HEU will contact you via email informing you that your reporting due date is coming up and provide you with an online link/form where you can upload your reporting documents.

You will have a full month to upload these reporting documents to the online link and you can submit them any time within that month.

Begin learning “How Euka Work Samples & Parent Assessment Work” by watching this video.

Work Samples

You will be required to submit 6 work samples (if utilising Euka's Government Report Creator, you will need to add a minimum of 10 work samples in order to generate your report):-
• 2 x Maths work samples – these must show the students' working out
• 2 x English work samples – these must show creative writing of some sort
• 2 x work samples from a third subject of your choice

Make sure the work samples show improvement (one from the start of the year/term and one from the end)

Parent Annotations

You will also be required to submit 6 parent assessment checklists, these are what the Department of Education calls “annotations” (the parent assessment checklists that match the 6 work samples). By adding the premium Government Report Creator to your enrolment, your work samples and annotations are included.

Year in Review

Lastly, the HEU will also send you a “Year in Review” form to fill out. You will be required to fill this out and submit it in addition to the work samples and Parent Assessment Checklists. This form requires you to write about how your child went during the last 10 months of Homeschooling.

Re-Registration/Summary

The HEU in QLD requires you to submit a summary of the educational program for the upcoming period. In most cases, this means providing the HEU with 2 Scope and Sequences (Full Year Learning Plans) for 2 Grade levels when re-registering.

In order to receive access to the following Grade level Scope and Sequence (Full Year Learning Plan) for the upcoming registration period (the next 10 months) at least a single term enrolment in that new Grade level will be required. Feel welcome to enrol in the next Grade level by following this link or for existing families, doing so via your Parent Portal.

Registration Service -

We also offer the Euka Full Registration Service to families as an optional extra when four consecutive terms of our program have been enrolled in.

Our team will compile the re-registration package for you using your completed questionnaire. You will receive all the documentation already individualised for your child and ready to simply send to the Department of Education.

This service includes:-

• Scope & Sequence (Full Year Learning Plan)
• Individualised Education Plan for your child/Comprehensive Additional Information Documentation required for Homeschooling
• Half yearly and end of year academic transcripts
