Subject Changes in Grade 11/12: What You Need to Know
Are you considering making a subject change? Before you make any decisions, make sure you read the information below 👇
Firstly, if you have selected the Assessed/University Pathway, it's important to understand that the focus, before the end of the Grade 12 academic year, will be to submit at least three assessments for each subject. On completion of Grade 12, i.e. all lessons and the required assessments, students are awarded a University Preparation certificate. It's worth noting that the Grade 11 results will not be seen on the Grade 12 report.
Secondly, did you know that the content of the senior program can be delivered in a flexible way? That's right! With no due dates and access to all the assessments examples they need, many students find that this is enough to release the pressure and work through the program at a pace that suits them.
Lastly, let's talk about fees. Each subject change comes with a $75 administration fee. So, before you go ahead and make any changes, we highly advise taking a look at the descriptions presented in the Grade 11 & Grade 12 Prospectus. This will help you make an informed choice moving forward.
You can request a subject change at any time if you are in our Assessment Free Pathway.
⚠️ Please Note that in our Assessed/University Pathway subjects can only be swapped during Term 1. ⚠️
If you wish to proceed with an adjustment to your subjects, you are able to do so via your Parent Account > Manage Programs > Manage Subjects tab
Here you'll be able to request the subject selection change and process the $75 payment for this change (which is applicable when the adjustment is being made more than 2 weeks after initial subject selections were done)
Further information regarding Grade 12 students changing subjects mid-year.
If you are a student completing our Grade 12 Assessed/University Pathway and have already completed 1, 2 or 3 terms of learning and wish to change subjects, this is possible, but please note the following:
- Did you know changing subjects may/may not be necessary for your intended university course? If you haven't already done so, contacting the university regarding your specific course requirements may clear things up for you.
- Moving forward with a subject change is fine if you are sure. It will mean some extra work for you, as explained below.
- You will need to complete the three assessment items for the new subject/s in Grade 12. There are no assessments in Term 4. This means going back and focusing on the assessment items needed from the first 3 terms. Completing the lessons can help you produce a higher-quality assessment, so this should be considered in your study plan.
- Although Euka does not recommend that Grade 12 Assessed/University Pathway students change subjects midway through the year, we realise that in some cases, this is needed, depending on your individual circumstances.
