Can I homeschool if I live overseas?

Updated over 4 months ago

We have a large number of students living all over the world gaining an Australian education.

Registration

If you are living overseas, you are not required to be registered as a homeschooler with the Australian Department of Education. The work completed by students will most certainly be recognised should you return at any time to Australia.

Reporting

Not having to register, also means you do not then have to report to the Department in Australia. We do still recommend considering adding the Government Report Creator as this is the best way to consolidate your child's work as you go.

Upon completion of the year, the report creator will provide you with a full report outlining what your child now understands, what they've achieved in the curriculum, what they are working towards, and more. These are the perfect way to track progress and make use of should you be looking to return to Australia in the future.

For example; if ever wish to enroll in mainstream schooling in Australia, you would use these reports to be accepted for entry or use these for entry into TAFE after Grade 10.

As always, if you should have any other queries in relation to learning whilst abroad, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team
