Euka Grades 9 & 10 Elective Selection: Explore Options, Get Recommendations, and Shape Your Learning Journey

Updated over a week ago

Elective Selection & Recommendations

Students studying with Euka in Grades 9 and 10 are required to choose two electives from separate learning areas. This is encouraged as this promotes a broad education and helps lead the student to many different points of view and experiences. Students can begin on their electives and complete them at a pace they are most comfortable with.

To provide some initial advice, we recommend 2 per Term. As you may know, each State has a different requirement for electives. Some States allow complete freedom of choice and others have a structured approach. Euka has created elective courses to meet all the requirements for every State and ensure they are fun, relevant and combine theory with practical activities.

Electives are a wonderful way to try new things and begin to find out what you like as a learner and what you don’t like. For this reason, we are always happy for students to move into new electives at any time. The electives have been split into Term unit courses. These combine to cover the full year.

For Example:
Industrial Technology Timber consists of 8 separate unit courses: Each course will have 10 weeks of Theory and a project that is created across the 10 weeks.

Industrial Technology Timber Courses

Scope and Nature of Carpentry Certificate

Carpentry Tools, Equipment, Materials and Safety Certificate

Cutting and Joining Timber – Carpentry Certificate

Planning and Setting Out a Project – Carpentry Certificate

Finishing Wood – Carpentry Certificate

Outside Construction – Carpentry Certificate

Construction Certificate

Understanding House Construction Certificate

These elective courses can be done in any order. Do one unit. Do them all. The choice is yours.
