YouTube Access Changes for Under-16s Account

How will the new YouTube access restrictions impact my child’s learning experience with Euka?

Updated this week

From December 10th 2025, YouTube’s updated policy means students signed into an under-16 account may be restricted from viewing videos.

A handful of Euka lessons include optional YouTube clips to enrich learning, so you might see a restriction message.

If that happens, you’re welcome to open the link using your own parent or guardian account, or try a guest session on the device while supervising your child’s viewing.

Please note: that Euka videos are completely optional and simply offer an alternative way to engage with the lessons. Rest assured, the written materials on their own cover the full curriculum.

What to do if a YouTube video won’t play?

1) Use your parent/guardian account

  • Sign out of your child’s account in the browser/app.

  • Sign in with your YouTube account and open the lesson link while supervising.

  • Keep Restricted Mode on or your usual controls as you prefer.

2) Try a guest session

  • Many devices offer a Guest profile or temporary user.

  • Switch to Guest, open the link, then close the session when finished.

3) If issues persist

  • Refresh the page and try another browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) or the YouTube app.

  • Clear cache/cookies if needed.

  • Check home or device-level parental controls that may be blocking YouTube.
