Lifeskills Maths - Work Samples

How do we complete work samples when my child is doing Lifeskills Maths?

Grade 9 & 10 Mathematics Options

For Grade 9 & 10 students looking to brush up on their mathematics skills, we offer a variety of options here at Euka.

Grade 7 is the recommended standard in terms of having the numeracy necessary for many careers including the ability to pass TAFE trade entrance tests. For students who have not yet reached this level or wish to further expand their mathematical knowledge, we offer the LifeSkills option to Grade 9 & 10 students.

Life Skills Maths Program

If a career in Mathematics or Science is not of interest to your learner, then the Life Skills Maths Program may be the perfect alternative.

This program is completely self-paced and consists of eight units. Students who choose to take this route will complete these eight units in place of the standard Maths curriculum.

Additionally, students enrolled in the Life Skills Maths Program will be exempt from completing the standard Maths work samples for the year. Instead, students will complete the Life Skills worksheets and be able to use these as replacement work sample evidence.

We encourage students to utilise tasks from lessons where they can effectively demonstrate their reasoning, planning, and working out.

Remember, it's important to clearly label these tasks so they can serve as suitable replacements for the original work samples you were meant to complete.

If you are opting for this approach, be sure to replace the headings on the Parent Assessment Checklists with those of the new tasks.

Please Note that while the Life Skills Mathematics Program is a recognised alternative, it does not align with the Australian Curriculum. However, it serves as a viable option for students looking to develop a deeper understanding of relevant mathematics.

It's important to remember that choosing the Life Skills Mathematics option will not impact your eligibility for our Euka Grade 11 and 12 program.

We encourage students to take advantage of this unique opportunity to tailor their learning experience to their interests and needs.
