Here's how your access period works if you enrol before you're ready to start lessons, and how to make the most of that time.
ℹ️ Access period: the number of days your child can use their Euka program, counted from the day you pay. It runs whether or not lessons have started, so it's worth understanding before you decide when to enrol.
What this article covers
When does my access period start?
Your access period starts on the day you make your first enrolment payment, and your child can use their program in the Student and Parent Portals straight away.
It starts from the date of purchase, not the date you plan to begin lessons or the date your homeschooling registration is approved.
How long it runs depends on your plan:
Enrolment plan | Access period |
Full-year enrolment | 365 days |
Single-term enrolment | 90 days |
Can I delay my start date?
No. Due to how our system operates, we're unable to delay or adjust your enrolment commencement date, so your access period always begins on the day you pay.
If you aren't ready to begin lessons yet, that time is still useful. You can use it to explore the program, gather materials and prepare your registration documents.
What are the benefits of enrolling early?
Enrolling early gives you time to get to know the program, organise your materials and prepare your registration documents before lessons begin. There's no need to start learning on day one.
Explore the program before you start
From the day you enrol, you have full access to your child's program. You can:
look through upcoming lessons and activities
learn your way around the Student and Parent Portals
see how lessons are structured
plan a routine that suits your family
let your child begin exploring their lessons when they're ready
Get your learning materials organised
You can also open the documents that help you set up your learning space:
Parent Handbook: practical guidance for homeschooling with Euka
Materials and resource lists: what you'll need for upcoming lessons and activities
Booklists: any books your child's program uses
Scope and sequence documents: the topics and learning outcomes each subject covers
Having these early means you can buy books and gather materials before your intended start date, not in the first week of lessons.
Prepare your homeschooling registration documents
Euka offers an optional Government Registration Service, which prepares the learning plans you need to support your homeschooling application. If you've purchased this service with your enrolment, enrolling early gives our team time to prepare your child's learning plans before you lodge your application.
Complete your registration questionnaire.
Give us the details we need for your child's learning plans.
Our team compiles your learning plans.
Review your documents, then lodge your application with your state or territory education authority.
ℹ️ Please note: Euka prepares your learning plans. Lodging your application and getting approval or registration from your state or territory education authority is your responsibility.
Give your child a head start
While you prepare your registration or wait for approval, your child can start exploring their lessons. It's a gentle way to build a routine and get comfortable with Euka before homeschooling officially begins.
Remember, using Euka doesn't replace your child's school attendance obligations while your application is being processed.
Can my child start lessons before homeschooling is approved?
Yes. Your child can use their Euka lessons as soon as you enrol, but they may still need to attend school until your homeschooling registration is approved.
Buying a Euka program doesn't mean your child can stop attending mainstream school. Registration and attendance rules vary between states and territories. In many cases, children must stay enrolled at school until the education department approves home education or another arrangement is in place.
Check with your state or territory education authority before you withdraw your child.
If your child has an exemption from school attendance, or another approved arrangement to learn at home while you wait, they can use Euka during that time. Keep following any conditions attached to the exemption.
Will we have enough time to finish the program?
Yes. From our experience supporting homeschooling families, many students complete their full-year learning program within approximately 8–9 months, and a full-year enrolment gives you 365 days of access.
We understand it can feel like you're losing time if you enrol before homeschooling starts. We provide a full 12 months of access because learning doesn't always happen on a fixed schedule.
It allows for:
preparing your application and waiting for approval
holidays and family commitments
illness, appointments or other interruptions
extra time on subjects your child finds challenging
changes to your child's routine
Every child works at their own pace, and there's no expectation that all students will finish at the same time.
Do we have to follow the school calendar?
No. You can start whenever suits your family, plan learning across the whole year and take breaks when you need them.
For example, if your child starts homeschooling in November, they don't have to stop when the school year ends in December.
They can keep working through their Euka program into the new year while their access period is active, as long as you're meeting your state or territory's homeschooling requirements.
What if my child needs more time to finish?
You can buy a 30-day Program Access Extension for $49 in the Parent Portal once your access period has ended.

Common questions
Common questions
Registration Service. Can I delay lesson access until my registration is approved?
No. Lesson access and the Government Registration Service both start when you enrol, and we can't set separate start dates for them. While you prepare your documents, your child is welcome to explore their lessons.
I've enrolled early for the Government
Can I buy the Government Registration Service on its own?
No. The Government Registration Service isn't available as a standalone purchase. It's an optional service that must be purchased alongside either a single-term or full-year enrolment.
If I enrol in the next term or grade, can my child still see their earlier lessons?
Yes. While your child has an active enrolment, every term and grade you've already paid for stays available, so they can revisit topics or finish anything left over.
